Challenges change regularly and can be completed using the technology, software and materials currently available in the Ipswich Libraries Makerspaces. Like a past challenge? You can make a creation based on a previous challenge or conquer them all!

December Sandbox Challenge

Time to get your hands dirty! Using the Augmented Reality Sandbox at either the Ipswich Central or Springfield Central Library, create a scene with the sand and the items found in the box.

Christmas Art Challenge

Head to either the Ipswich Central or Springfield Central Makerspaces and use the HP Sprouts to create our own Christmas themed digital art. 

Beat Saber Challenge

Come show us your skills in rhythm and coordination, and fight your way to the top of the leaderboard.

Environment Challenge

Learn how to manipulate shapes in virtual space to create unique 3D Environments in the October Makerspace Challenge.

Beat Saber Challenge

To kickstart the Ipswich Libraries Makerspace Challenges we are giving you the opportunity to showcase your skills and prove yourself as the ultimate Beat Saber Champion!

Space Pirate Challenge

VR is back, and so are its challenges! Get the highest score to claim the Maker Space Pirate Trainer Challenge 3D Printed Trophy! See a Makerspace Officer to verify your entry.

This month, you can choose from 5 different challenges to try your hand in, or attempt them all if you are feeling competitive.

3D Modelling Challenge

Learn how to manipulate shapes in virtual space to create unique 3D models in the 3D Modelling Challenge.

Isolation Design Challenge

We challenge you to use your isolation creativity to design something that can help people, the environment or simply assist with anything you’re passionate about. 

Imaginarium Challenge

Bored at home?  We challenge you to design the ultimate toy to play with while you stay at home.

No Touch Design Challenge

We challenge you to design something that can help people navigate the world without having to touch contaminated surfaces.

Roller Coaster Challenge

We challenge you to use your design and engineering skills to create a roller coaster that is strong enough to hold a marble. Don’t have a marble? You can also use a tennis ball, golf ball or if you’re feeling adventurous, a basketball! 

Stop Motion Challenge

We challenge you to create a Stop Motion movie! It can be as long or short as you want, and can be about absolutely anything. The characters or moving elements in your movie can be done with clay, toys, people or anything else you can think of.

Lego Design Challenge

Visit the Makerspace and showcase your Lego designing abilities! In our Lego Digital Designer, build a plane, car, house, or boat for a chance to win a 3D Print voucher. 

3D Modelling Bunny Challenge

Visit one of the Ipswich Libraries Makerspaces, ‘hop’ onto one of our HP Sprouts, and edit the “Bunny” model in Meshmixer to create your own unique creature.

Make a Monster

Visit one of the Ipswich Library Makerspaces, jump onto a HP Sprout or the Virtual Reality system to begin creating your very own monster.

Poorly Painted Portraits

Visit one of the Ipswich Library Makerspaces, jump onto a HP Sprout or the Virtual Reality system to begin painting your portrait.

Tinker a Bookmark

This project will allow you to design and 3D print your very own bookmark using Tinkercad.
