The Ipswich Art Gallery currently has a wonderful new display highlighting Neville Bonner and his career. The display will be open until August 15th, and the gallery is open 7 days a week from 10am – 5pm.
Australia’s first Indigenous Senator and former Ipswich resident Neville Bonner AO (1922-1999) is celebrated in this display highlighting his significant social and political achievements. After serving 12 years in parliament, Bonner retired from politics but continued to raise awareness to improve conditions for Australia’s Indigenous people. In 2004, the federal electorate of Bonner, in Queensland, was named in his honour.
