The Old Flour Mill ghost

Named as one of the region’s most-haunted locations in a book by dark historian Jack Sim, the Old Flour Mill will be auctioned this month.

As noted in Jack’s book, Hubert, a young worker at the Flour Mill had been ill with Scarlet Fever.  Feeling better he returned to work.  Slacking off because he was not completely recovered, Hubert was told to work harder and sweat more as this would help his recovery.  He soon collapsed and died on the bottom floor of the mill.

His ghostly presence has been felt and a shadowy figure in a coat has been seen in the evenings.  When the Flour Mill was being used as a restaurant, the cutlery on tables in the hallway leading to the kitchen would often be disturbed. Hubert was seen often at functions especially when a particular waitress was working.  Staff believe Hubert had taken a bit of a shine to her.
