Town of Ipswich plans

The Viva Cribb Local History Resource Room has recently acquired copies of four maps drawn by Surveyor Henry Wade from the Queensland State Archives.

These maps include the: Proposed plans of town of Limestone (to be called Ipswich), 1842; Garden and suburban allotments in town of Limestone, 1842;  Plan of the Town of Ipswich at Limestone Moreton Bay, 1843;  Ipswich town and garden allotments, 1843.

One of the most travelled pioneer surveyors, Henry Wade was involved in surveying  land in Brisbane and Ipswich between 1842 and 1844.  Henry died in 1854 whilst surveying in the Sunbury/Gisborne area.
